LEXINGTON, Ky. — Power rock trio Johnny Conqueroo are back at it, today releasing its latest single “Calculations” from the upcoming Taking it Easy EP via the band’s Fantastico Records label.
The band takes after up-and-coming Nashville rockers The Nude Party on the tune with a heavy dose of meaty, catchy guitar riffs dipped in 70s nostalgia coupled with chanting, anthem-like lyrics and a touch of keys masked by the trio’s signature garage rock aesthetic.
Listen to “Calculations” below.
“Calculations” is the first cut revealed from Johnny Conqueroo’s upcoming Taking it Easy EP, due out this fall. The project was produced in town by Duane Lundy at Shangri-la Productions, who has worked extensively in the group in the past on their recording endeavors.
Comprised of guitarist Grant Curless, drummer Wils Quinn and bassist Shawn Reynolds, the trio is still too young to legally drink despite touring clubs and the regional festival circuit since 2015 as they fine-tuned a sound all their own. Forming while in high school, Johnny Conqueroo has developed a tight groove and signature sound despite their youth, possessing a frenetic live energy leading to one of the most high-strung and unpredictable live shows in Central Kentucky.
The band has a number of appearances in the area slotted for the months ahead including a visit to Louisville’s Zanzabar on June 29, Byrd’s Creek Music Festival in Crossville, Tenn. on July 11; Master Musicians Festival in Somerset on July 20, Secret Stages Music Discovery Festival in Birmingham, Al. on Aug. 3; Keeneland on Aug. 11 at the inaugural Railbird Festival and the Moonshiner’s Ball in Livingston from Oct. 10-13.
