LEXINGTON, Ky. — Members of soul and blues-tinged rock ‘n rollers Mojothunder and songwriters Justin Carlson and Will Solomon joined me this week for episode 69 of Wick’s Picks on Lexington Community Radio.
During the program’s first hour Carlson and Solomon joined me in studio to discuss their contributions to the collaborative Rest EP that spawned from the Carlson-curated Wintersongs event and features locals such as Ryvoli, Lylak, Morgan Hughes and Buck the Taxidermist describing their interpretations of rest through song. We also discussed each artist’s musical background and how their musical contributions on the EP came to be along with talking with Solomon about his recent transition to pursuing a music career full-time and current work on an upcoming full length project.
We heard a handful of songs from the Rest EP during the hour including Justin Carlson’s “Walls,” Will Solomon’s “Rest,” Buck the Taxidermist’s “The Ant Song,” Ryvoli’s “Tarskavaig” and Morgan Hughes “Garden.”
In our second hour I was joined by Sean Sullivan and Bryson Willoughby of area rockers Mojothunder. The three of us discussed the band’s formation and recent wiping of the slate when they welcomed Sullivan as their new frontman last November; their upcoming Loose Lips EP, songwriting and much more. We also heard a three fresh tunes from Mojothunder including “Movin’ On” and “You Got Me Like,” the group’s first two singles with Sullivan at the helm, along with “Fine (Ever Since The Day You Left),” the second track from their forthcoming EP ahead of Friday’s release show.
