LEXINGTON, Ky. — Saraya Brewer of the Moonshiner’s Ball and Joslyn Hampton and Marty charters of Joslyn & The Sweet Compression joined me this week for episode 68 of Wick’s Picks on Lexington Community Radio.

Following last Wednesday’s full lineup reveal for the sixth annual Moonshiner’s Ball, to be held from Oct. 10-13 in nearby Livingston, I was joined by festival Board Member Saraya Brewer from during the show’s first hour. We discussed the Moonshiners’ artist lineup, what’s new for this year’s event and more in addition to listening to music from a slew of the artists who you can see performing at the event this fall.

Music heard throughout the hour included Rayland Baxter’s “Strange American Dream,” Bendigo Fletcher’s “No Smoke,” Sinkane’s “Everybody,” Good Morning Bedlam’s “Devil’s Waltz,” Lillie Mae’s “Forever and Then Some,” Johnny Conqueroo’s “The Key,” Blind Corn Liquor Picker’s “Moving On” and Vintage Pistol’s “So Long.”

During our 10 o’clock hour I was joined by Joslyn Hampton and Marty Charters of funk and soul collective Joslyn & The Sweet Compression to discuss the May 17 release of their debut, self-titled LP, animated music video for the single “What Did You Think Was Gonna Happen,” breaking out of your shell on stage, musical roots, summer shows and more. We also listened to two tracks from the album—”What Did You Think Was gonna Happen” and “Somebody Help Me.”

Listen to an archive of the show below.

Wick’s Picks is off next Monday for Memorial Day, but join us the following Monday, June 3, from 9-11 a.m. on Lexington Community Radio for episode 69 with Mojothunder. Tune in live at 93.9 FM or at lexingtoncommunityradio.org.
