WICK’S PICKS: Ep. 50 – 1/14/19 (w/ C2 & The Brothers Reed and Trippin Roots)

LEXINGTON, Ky. — This week members of Kentucky rock ‘n roll group C2 & The Brothers Reed and roots rockers Trippin Roots joined host Matt Wickstrom as featured guests for the 50th episode of Wick’s Picks on Lexington Community Radio.

First on the program from 9-10 a.m. were Cameron Clark and James Weishar, bassist/vocalist and keyboardist for C2 & The Brothers Reed. The trio discussed the band’s formation and influences, songwriting, recording, and what’s on tap for 2019 among other topics ahead of their first show of the year on Jan. 18 at The Burl with Mo Lowda & The Humble, MOJOTHUNDER and Sylmar. Mixed among conversation were recording’s from the band’s “Weigh Station Tour: Exit A” and “B” including “Smoking Gun,” “Be Alright” and “Revolution.”

During hour two of the show guitarist/vocalist Evan Curran, bassist Aaron White and percussionist Andrew White of Trippin Roots joined the program to discuss the band’s origins and upcoming plans ahead of shows this weekend on Jan. 17 at Al’s Bar and Jan. 18 at J. Render’s. The band also performed three originals live in-studio – “Stubborn Lungs,” “Redefine” and new tune “Built on Sand.”

On Monday, Jan. 21, the program will feature roots and soul outfit Champs of the Sun along with a look back at it’s best in-studio performances in 2018 from 9-11 a.m. Then on Thursday, Jan. 24; Asheville, NC, based Andrew Scotchie & The River Rats join the show for a special stripped down acoustic performance from 3-4 p.m. ahead of their gig later that evening at Best Friend Bar.
