Honky Tonk Holidays

Honky Tonk Heroes, a community of like-minded individuals who are avid supporters of local and regional music, are holding a holiday benefit concert a The Burl on Sunday, Dec. 16. As the event name suggests, the evening will be filled with honky tonk-infused country and Americana featuring Chelsea Nolan, Geno Seale, Dan Conn, Abe Partridge, Dog Rogers, 29 Horses and DJ Charlie Brown Superstar. Proceeds will go to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Bluegrass. 375 Thompson Rd. 6 p.m. $10. Ages 18+.

Chris and Jenn Shouse

Husband and wife duo Chris and Jenn Shouse take to the Red Barn Radio stage on Wednesday, Dec. 19. Chris has appeared on Red Barn in the past with Louisville-based 23 String Band, while Jenn will be making her performing debut on the program. The duo released their debut EP Gray Space earlier this year upon moving from Louisville to Irvine, Ky., where Chris now teaches music at West Irvine Intermediate Elementary School. 161 N Mill St. 8 p.m. $8. Hoppy Holidays Appalachian Artist Bazaar

The Local Honeys present the Hoppy Holidays Music and Appalachian Artist Bazaar on Thursday, Dec. 20 at The Burl. In addition to a performance from the Honeys, a slew of other artists will share the stage including Laid Back Country Picker, Don Rogers, Slut Pill, Grits & Soul, Chelsea Nolan, The Handshake Deals, The Swells and Short & Company. Also on site will be several local craft artists and vendors to browse and purchase last minute holiday gifts from. 375 Thompson Rd. 8 p.m. $10. Ages 21+.

Letters of Acceptance

Experimental rockers Letters of Acceptance return to The Green Lantern on Friday, Dec. 21.  The group, which formed years ago as a series of recordings and collaborations between Clinton Harlin Newman and John Harlan Norris, has recently reunited and recruited Lexingtonians Scott Whiddon and Tim Welch to round out their sound. Joining LOA at the Lantern will be Columbus, Ohio-based electro-folk outfit WYD and the Emily Woxihara Trio. 497 W Third St. 9 p.m. $5. Ages 21+.

Wine and Dine with Justin Wells

Justin Wells hosts his fourth annual Wine and Dine event at The Burl on Saturday, Dec. 22. The show has become a trademark show in recent years in the Central Kentucky music scene, nestled in the midst of the holiday season. Wells, who in 2016 released solo debut Dawn in the Distance, will be performing many songs off that record along with tunes from his days in Fifth on the Floor and new songs penned for an album on the way in 2019. Kicking off the intimate concert will be performances from The Local Honeys and Wells’ former Fifth on the Floor bandmate Jason Parsons paired with dinner from Roll’n Smoke. Tickets for the entire evening are $25,  while tickets to Wells’ performance only are $15. 375 Thompson Rd. 7:15 p.m. Ages 18+.
