Wick’s Picks: Ep. 45 – 11/26/18 (w/ Nick Dittmeier and The Local Honeys)

By Matt Wickstrom

LEXINGTON, Ky. — This week singer-songwriter Nick Dittmeier and trailblazing old-time duo The Local Honeys stopped in the studio for Wick’s Picks on Lexington Community Radio.

The first hour of the program focused on Dittmeier and his band Nick Dittmeier & The Sawdusters. From Jeffersonville, Indiana, Dittmeier discusses his musical roots, Thanksgiving, the power of music and his new album All Damn Day. Throughout the hour Dittmeier also performed songs from his new album live in studio in addition to previewing several tracks straight off the record including “Head to Rest,” “All Damn Day,” “Love Me Like You Did,” “Walking on Water” and “Trouble Song.”

Following Dittmeier were Linda Jean Stokley and Montana Hobbs, better known as The Local Honeys. The duo chatted about their musical upbringings, meeting each other and igniting their friendship while enrolled in Morehead State University’s Kentucky Center for Traditional Music, travelling the world playing music, new music, new shows and much more. The group also performed two songs throughout the hour — the first a fiddle tune and the second a cover of Peggy Seger’s “Space Girl.”

Listen to a full archive of the show below, which also includes new music from People Planet and Vintage Pistol.
