Alabama, Blackberry Smoke and Chelsea Nolan lead first wave of Tumbleweed lineup

By Matt Wickstrom

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Tumbleweed Festival has unveiled the first wave of its 2019 lineup, led by country music legends Alabama and Marshall Tucker Band, southern rock veterans Blackberry Smoke and up-and-coming Kentuckian Chelsea Nolan, among others, to be held from May 30 to June 1, 2019 in La Cygne, Kansas, just outside of Kansas City.

Other new additions to the festival include Whiskey Myers, Sarah Shook & The Disarmers, Chad Vaughn and Chris Stewart.

For Stanton, Ky. native Chelsea Nolan, the Tumbleweed announcement marks the first major festival announcement for the dynamic singer-songwriter who embarked on a solo music endeavor just over a year ago, now fresh off the release of her debut album chelsea. Tumbleweed had the following to say about Nolan and the budding Kentucky music scene below.

“Tumbleweed represents and supports the surging authentic country music scene. Time and again, we find ourselves salivating at the Kentucky music scene — a scene that is organically producing some of the best real country music in the world. Many of the artists are just blossoming… the beauty of real country music is that it comes from the heart — the soul — of talented musicians who don’t rely on one-hit-wonders and teams of writers, producers and managers to carry their careers. Here at Tumbleweed, we feel uniquely connected to the artists we book. That said, we are excited to host Chelsea Nolan!”

In October Nolan stopped by Lexington Community Radio to chat about chelsea. with me on Wick’s Picks. Listen to an archive of the show here. Additionally, you can listen to chelsea. below.
