First on the show was DeBraun Thomas, who works as a DJ and radio host at WUKY and is a civil rights activist along with being a “rock ‘n soul” musician. Thomas and Wickstrom chatted about Thomas’ background in music, what got him into radio, his involvement in ‘Take Back Cheapside,’ a look back on 2015’s All My Colors Are Blind and much more.
For hour two of the program Wickstrom was joined by Young-Eun Koepke and Molly Jones of Petefest Music Festival along with Joslyn Hampton and Marty Charters of Joslyn & The Sweet Compression, who will be performing at the festival outside Louisville from September 7-9. The group chatted about the festival’s background and mission to raise awareness for mental health advocacy, the musical origins and backgrounds of Hampton and Charters, the late Aretha Franklin and more.
