With festival season fast approaching, Across-the-Way Productions and FloydFest have announced their latest additions to FloydFest 18~Wild, held July 25-29, 2018 in Floyd, Va., led by jamgrass icons Leftover Salmon and a new collaborative project from Keller Williams featuring bluegrass troupe The Hillbenders.
Other new artist additions include The National Reserve, The Broadcast, Erin & The Wildfire, Louisville’s Mama Said String Band, Fireside Collective, Sol Searchers, Blue Mule, The Floorboards, My Radi, Black Mountain Revival, GOT, Morgan Wade & The Stepbrothers and Los Chupacabras.
The most recent additions to the festival join previously announced FloydFest bands that include recent Grammy winners Jason Isbell (Best Americana Album for The Nashville sound, Best American Roots Song for “If We Were Vampires”) and Infamous Stringdusters (Best Bluegrass Album for Laws of Gravity), Foster the People, Old Crow Medicine Show, ZZ Ward, Hiss Golden Messenger, Greta Van Fleet, Lukas Nelson & The Promise of the Real, Antibalas, Langhorne Slim, Nikki Lane, The Steel Wheels, Son Little, The Lil Smokies, Horesshoes & Hand Grenades, No BS! Brass Band, Devon Gilfillian, Lindsay Lou, South Hill Banks and Dharma Bombs.
Of note regarding the new additions, Leftover Salmon recently announced a new record, Something Higher, out May 4, along with sassy Louisville bluegrass quintet Mama Said String Band prepping to release their debut CD with a celebratory show on Feb. 24 at Zanzabar.
In remembrance of last year’s passing of music icon Tom Petty, Keller Williams will team up with The Hillbenders, known for their bluegrass Opry of The Who’s Tommy, to perform hits from Petty’s career, bluegrass style. Keller speaks more about PettyGrass at Billboard.
